This movie could best be described as an interesting concept
portrayed in the most perfect manner possible. Everything about
this movie meets or exceeds viewer expectations.
Special effects were very abundant, but tactful. The original book,
French in origin, was anonymously created, but is said to have been
written by a comic book artist. Well, sad to say, this artist
is in the wrong calling; he should be in writing, not art, for he
is truly a master of his craft. If the movie were to be described
as a meal, it would be a "Stargate/Star Wars" stew with a little
"Die Hard" on the side. Casting was pulled off very well too.
Milla Jovovich (Leeloo) is a very beautiful and talented actress,
expecially when speaking the "Divine Language," probably the most
beautiful "made-up" language I've ever heard. Bruce Willis is
excellent in this movie, using his unmistakeable facial expressions
that gives more meaning than words. Finally, one of the greatest
actors of our time, Gary Oldman. Oldman (Zorg) is excellent in
this movie, and meets the main ingredient of a true actor. He can
change his appearance and demeanor to fit any role. Many other
actors can act good, but only in one type of role (e.g., Christopher
Walken). Oldman's character in this movie, can only be described
as "Ross Perot on crack."
Set in the future, an alien race, the very essence of which is evil,
seeks to destroy everything in it's path, including Earth. There is
only one way possible to stop the alien race, and that is by using the
five elements, all dependent upon each other. The elements(ancient stones)
must be collected together, and put in the sacred temple. One major
step in the film is finding out what the fifth element is. Compassing
a lot of action, this film also has the perfect amount of humor to make
anyone want to see it many times. Never has there been a more watchable
film.
